The Time Is Now

By Pamela Shelly

We are going through a transformation on a personal and planetary level and every one of us is being called to action.  Up until recently we have gotten away with sitting on the fence and spending years preparing to fully express the divinity of who we truly are.  We have read all the books, taken several courses, and done what we believed was required of us.

Now it is time for Action.  No more sitting on the fence.  We all have the responsibility to be the role models by moving through our fears and limited beliefs to offer our gifts to humanity.  Each one of us is sorely needed to lead the way for those who are just waking up or will be awakening.  If you are experiencing discontent in any area of your life, know that change is required to bring yourself back in alignment.

Once we have woken up we are unable to go back to sleep.  Part of us knows we are here to live consciously and express the divine self of who we truly are.  Waking up and becoming more self-aware means to live consciously, making choices moment to moment from that self-aware state.  Living unconsciously on the other hand, is experiencing life as a victim of our circumstances rather than a creator and often leads to a life of pain and misery.  Some try to escape and hide by unconsciously sabotaging their progress.  The terrified and resistant ego has a myriad of ways to distract, hide, create sickness, addictions, staying in familiar but dysfunctional jobs, relationships etc.

A client recently sent me a quote written from Martha Graham to Agnes de Mille who were lifelong friends.  I feel this quote relates a lot to what we are here to do as Old souls and those of you who are very Advanced Old souls.  This quote is taken from The Life and Work of Martha Graham, a biography of Graham written by Agnes de Mille.  Martha Graham, who lived from 1894 until 1991, was an American dancer and choreographer.  She invented a new language of movement using it to reveal the passion, the rage and the ecstasy common to human experience.  She danced and choreographed for over seventy years and was the first dancer to ever perform at The White House.  In 1998 Time magazine listed her as the "Dancer of the Century" and as one of the most important people of the 20th century.  Graham's dance style is based upon contraction and release of the body.

According to Agnes de Mille: "I was bewildered and worried that my entire scale of values was untrustworthy. ... I confessed that I had a burning desire to be excellent, but no faith that I could be."  Martha said to me, very quietly,   There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique.  And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it.  It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions.  It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you.  Keep the channel open. ... No artist is pleased. [There is] no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others." The Life and Work of Martha Graham

As a group of old souls we chose to bring into this lifetime karma that has accumulated for countless lives to heal and release. The transformational energies of this time are so conducive to accelerating the process of karmic healing that we can accomplish in one lifetime spiritual growth that would have taken many, many lifetimes to achieve. Many of us brought heavy karma into this lifetime, resulting in very deep unworthiness issues.  It is challenging for us to accept that we are gifted and have brought in all the skills and abilities we signed up to offer to those precious souls in our Soul Contract. Offering our gifts and abilities will be natural and fairly easy once we re-discover what they are and allow ourselves to use them.  We have a false belief that confidence will come if we just take more courses, read more books, get more knowledge.  The only thing that truly gives us more confidence is to take the action needed to offer our gifts. It is in the doing that we slowly but surely get the inner and outer feedback that we need.  We are always a work in progress and shouldn’t expect perfection from the beginning.  We do our work, being willing to improve and learn as we go along.

As Osho states  “You are already that which you want to be.”

We need to live a life with meaning, not just work to survive and pay our bills.  Too often I have heard from people who worked hard all their lives at an unfulfilling job. After retiring they are miserable, or they end up with a dis-ease and just wait to die feeling very much victimized by their circumstances.  The word retirement doesn’t enter my consciousness.  For old and advanced souls it is so important to passionately be of service until we pass over. We agreed to offer our gifts and abilities to those souls we wrote into our Soul Contract.  I am doing more advertising and marketing than I ever have in the previous 15 years of my holistic, metaphysical, spiritual practice.  I need to be out there so these precious souls can find me.  So do you!!!  Think about that.  Do you want to arrive on the other side and realize you didn’t make the effort, or take the action necessary to express your creativity and assist those souls?  What I focus most on is being there NOW for those of you that I can assist through this wild adventure.  Doing our real work (which becomes play) is the most fulfilling and rewarding joy we can experience.
